Leah Shyra
Leah Shyra is an emerging visual artist and arts worker, born in Hyderabad, India and now living and practicing in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia) on the unceded Aboriginal lands of the wider Kulin Nation. In 2023, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from Monash University. Practicing primarily through painting and drawing, Leah’s intimately-scaled works adopt a material-led approach to art making, imploring the conceptual inklings that underpin processes of layering, mark-making and framing. Working with both representational subject matter and abstract forms, Leah’s practice is underpinned by broader themes of introspection, tenderness and the sublime.
